In Europe it is commonly found in parks and gardens and is one of the dominant landscape species. With its white flowers, it is beloved of bees in October and children in autumnl for the mahogany nuts. Trees vary in shape from upright oval to rounded and the large dark green leaves are composed of 5 or 7 long leaflets that turn yellow in fall. It is native to Greece and Albania.
