Acer platanoides ( Norway Maple ) is a species of maple native to eastern and central Europe and southwest Asia , from France east to Russia , north to southern Scandinavia and southeast to northern Iran . The familiar Norway Maple; found throughout Europe; tough and pollution-resistant. The dark green leaves may turn rich yellow in the fall and can be spectacular. The rounded outline is common to young and mature trees. In spring lovely yellow flowers smother the as-yet-leafless branches.
